Alternatives to Cheating

I'm a firm believer in doing whatever you want to do to make your gaming more fun. So if that includes cheating, go for it. But if you're stuck and you don't want to cheat, if you can't get certain cheats to work, or if you just want to explore all your options before resorting to cheating, here are some ideas.

WALKTHROUGHS: Obviously, since walkthroughs are the focus of this site, I recommend you check out the one for the game you're playing. The answer to your problem—whether it's a boss fight, a timed run or difficult jumping sequence, a missing item, technical glitch, or whatever—may already be covered.

GAME CONTROLS & STRATEGY: If you're a new raider, or if you just want to fine-tune your playing skills, check out my Gameplay & Controls and Strategy pages. The Gameplay page links to printable pages for each game listing all Lara's moves, how to use the different vehicles, and how to navigate the in-game menus. The strategy page goes a little further, with info on finessing moves, choosing the right weapon for the job, conserving health and ammo, and other helpful tips.

Some of the info there is pretty obvious, but there are a few tricks unique to this game. For example, the strategy section on setting up jumps in Tomb Raiders 1-5 can save you hours of frustration, since jumping works differently in TR than in any other action game.

USEFUL BUGS: Some game bugs can be good. The TR series includes a few that allow you to get Lara into places she wouldn't be able to reach otherwise, conserve ammo and even save Lara's life. Check them out here.

SAVEGAMES & SAVEGAME EDITORS: These can be a godsend if you saved your game in a bad spot, run out of health packs, or just have to have that Desert Eagle or Revolver a few levels early. Savegame editors, save files for Windows and Macintosh, and instructions for downloading and using save files can be found on my savegame page.
