I have not been able to make this bug work in my game, but I have been told by several people that you can use it to skip from the room with the aquatic mutant to the next level, the Vault of Trophies. It was first sent to me by Juan S., along with the screenshots below. I don't know if it works in all versions of the game.
There is also a slight variation on this technique shown in a YouTube video made by masterofzelda.
First cross the room to the walkway separating the farthest part of the pool from the main pool. The path is shown in the screenshot above.
Stand in front of the angled wall on the left. Take a few steps back from the sloping wall and roll. (Or run toward the wall and roll.) The precise positioning is a little tricky, but if you get it right, you will automatically skip to the beginning of the Vault of Trophies level.
I have also read reports on various TR message boards about this bug working at other angled walls in this area, or of it not working at all. I guess it's a bit temperamental.
