Position Lara roughly at the spot shown in the screenshot above. The stairs are to her left and you have walked her as close as possible to the edge. Release Walk and take a side jump to the left to land on the stairs. Press and hold Walk and, depending on where on the stairs Lara lands, immediately take one or more steps back to the edge.
Lara should be standing on or behind the crack in which the blade mechanism moves. Don't back up any farther or she'll fall off the stairs. The positioning is a little tricky and it may take several tries to get it right.
If she's in the right spot, and you continue to hold the Walk button, the blades will pass her, causing a little damage but not killing her or knocking her off the stairs. As soon as the blades pass her, turn a little to the right and side flip again to the left. . .
. . . to land at the top of the stairs. Move out of the way before the blades come up out of the floor again.
Alternatively, if you can't manage to jump past the blades, you can make your way back to the ladder following the path shown in the screenshot above. Here lara is standing on the smaller of the two stone pillars near the stairs, which are behind her and a bit to the right. From there, take a standing jump to the next set of pillars. Take another standing jump to the next group of pillars. Step back from the edge and take a running jump to the ledge with the ladder. Refer to the main walkthrough from there.
