The 13th Floor - "Mission Impossible" Achievement/Trophy
After avoiding the security guard near the LASER-TESTING LAB, and saving in a new slot, as described in the previous section, we're ready to finish the level in stealth and unlock "Mission Impossible." After that, we'll reload and go after secret #3 and "The Trap Is Set."
Wait until the patrolling guard moves away down the hall.
Then follow Zip's advice and draw your weapon, but do not fire at the worker.
Cutscene: Lara forces the man to open the door then knocks him out.
Turn and make sure the patrolling guard still hasn't noticed Lara. Then go through the door you just opened into the STAIRWELL NEAR THE IRIS ROOM. The door closes behind you.
This stairwell has three levels. You enter on the middle level. Below is the door to the IRIS ROOM. You can explore there, but the IRIS is still protected by the crackling electric force field, and the exit doesn't open until you have the artifact. So there's not much you can do there. Go to the top of the metal stairs...
...and enter a small OBSERVATION ROOM.
Turn around and approach the switch to the left of the entrance.
Using this switch shuts off the force field around the IRIS for about 20 seconds. You can pull it and run down the twisting staircase (pressing Look as you go to cancel the messed-up camera angles). Then run through the doorway on the lower level and on to the IRIS. Or, try this simple glitch:
Use the switch then immediately sidestep once to the left.
Backflip twice.
Then press Action + Back to crawl backwards through the observation window...
...and drop down inside the IRIS ROOM.
Roll and run up the ramp to the IRIS (26) (199/239).
Remove it from the pedestal before the timer runs out. After that, Lara is safe, and the exit opens.
NOTE: If the window glitch doesn't work for you, or you'd rather finish the "honorable" way, tips are included in a footnote following the main walkthrough.
Run on through the green-lit corridor to finish the level.
If Lara was not spotted by any enemies, "Mission Impossible" should unlock as the next level loads.
Now, reload your backup save in the CONTROL ROOM with the orange-suited worker, and we'll clean up.
