TOMB RAIDER GBC: VOLCANIC TEMPLE C
NOTE: Letter designations for switches (S#), doors (D#), save crystals (C#), etc., in the text refer to labels on the corresponding level maps. The switches are numbered to match their corresponding doors (e.g., switch 1 opens door 1, switch 3 extends ledge 3, etc.). All pickups are marked on the map (I hope). Enemies and hazards are noted in the walkthrough but not on the maps. The exception in this level is the numerous fireball emitting traps. I haven't mentioned every one. If you're low on medipaks, try to conserve them since you'll probably lose some health to these traps.
NOTE: The map for this area is larger than a standard 8½" x 11" sheet of paper. If your printer cuts off the bottom of the map or won't print it at full size, download the top and bottom halves separately, print both and tape them together.
You enter the level at the bottom left corner of the map. Take a running jump across the first lava pool to the save crystal (C1).
Use the ceiling bars to monkey swing across the next lava pool. Drop next to the white break-away tiles and then jump over them to the right. Be careful not to fall through into the spikes. Jump to grab the ladder ahead. (Again, watch out for the spike pit below.) Climb halfway up the ladder and backflip to the first ledge. Use the switch (S1) to open the blue door (D1) above. Take a running jump back to the ladder and climb to the top.
If you want all the pickups, jump over to the blue door on the left and go through. If you don't care about getting everything and just want the quickest route to the exit, go right, climb down the ladder on the other side of the wall and pick up the walkthrough below at the *.
Beyond the blue door (D1), go to the left, jumping over a lava pool, a spike pit and then another lava pool. Climb the first ladder. Turn around and pull up onto the platform to the right. Now you need to make your way up the series of platforms. Take a running jump to the next one on the left. Climb onto the one above and then the one above and to the left of that, where you'll find a small medipak. From there, jump to the ledge on the left and climb up to get another small medipak. Hop back down and jump back to the platform to the right. Take a standing jump up to the smaller platform on the right. Jump to the next small platform, and from there jump up onto the ledge above. Slide down the slopes to land on a ledge with a save crystal (C2), some dynamite and another small medipak.
Take a running jump to grab the ladder to the right. Climb to the top and pick up rapid and heavy bullets. Climb down the ladder and let go to slide down a slope and land back at the first blue door (D1).
Take a running jump to the top of the wall to the right. Climb down the ladder on the other (right) side.
(*) Don't let go of the ladder or Lara will fall into the spikes below. Instead backflip to land on the small platform near the white break-away tiles. There are more spikes below, so either hop over the tiles or, if they're still intact, run across them. Take a running jump to grab onto the next platform to the right, above the big lava pool. Pull up. Jump (or run) over the next set of break-away tiles and take a running jump to grab the ladder on the right wall.
Climb up past a series of fireball-shooting gargoyles. Shoot the mercenary on the ledge behind you and then jump over there. Pick up the large medipak. There's another merc on the ledge above. Kill him before climbing up.
Climb up three more ledges to the top. Take a running jump to grab the edge of the platform to the right; pull up. Climb onto the platform above and then onto the platform above and to the right. Jump off the platform to the right to land on a ledge with a switch (S2). Use this to open a blue door (D2) off to the left.
Step off the edge and slide down the ramp to land on a ledge below. Climb back up the ledges to the left until you reach the top again. Again, take a running jump to grab the edge of the platform to the right; pull up. Climb onto the platform above and, this time, climb onto the platform above and to the left. Take a running jump to the ledge on the left. Climb up to the blue door (D2) you just opened.
Roll through the low tunnel lined with fire traps and climb the ladder to the save crystal (C3). The blue door above (D3) is closed, so climb down and go to the left. Use the red switch (S3) to open the blue door (D3) you passed before. The blue door next to the switch (D4) doesn't open. Go back to the right and climb up to the door. Go through, climb the ladder and backflip to the ledge on the right. Climb the next ladder.
The blue door to the right (D5) needs a key, so for now use the monkey bars to swing over to the left to a ledge with fire traps in the floor. Slide down the ramps to the left, jumping near the end to grab the ladder ahead. Climb down and pick up the DOOR KEY (K). The blue door to the right (D4) still doesn't open, so climb back up the ladder. At the top, backflip to grab the ladder behind, continue to the top and shoot the 3 bats chasing Lara.
Slide down the ramp to the left to land on the ledge with the fire traps. Swing back across the monkey bars to the right. Use the DOOR KEY to unlock the blue door (D5).
Take a series of standing jumps across the small ledges above the big lava pool. On the other side, climb up the ledges with the fire traps and then climb the ladder. Shoot the mercenary on the ledge above before climbing up there.
Slide down the ramp to the left, jumping near the end to land near the blue door (D6). Slide down the next ramp and jump to the ledge with the switch (S6). Use it to open the blue door above. Step off the ledge. (Don't safety drop or Lara will fall in the lava.) Then use the small platforms to jump back across the lava pool to the right. Climb back up the ledges and ladder to the top of the slope. Slide down once more and jump to the blue door (D6). Go through to the next save crystal (C4).
Take a running jump across the spike pit to the left. Climb the ledges, killing 3 mercenaries as you go. There's a lava pool at the top and, above it, another ledge with 2 small medipaks. Get the medipaks and jump over the lava pool to the right.
The blue door (D7) doesn't open. Instead, fall through the white break-away tiles and slide down the ramp to a landing with another small medipak. Slide down the rest of the way, jumping near the end of the ramp to clear the lava pool and land on the ledge ahead. Climb the ladder directly above and jump to the ledge on the left with the large medipak and dynamite (if you don't already have some). Climb back down the ladder and let go.
Go to the right and kill 2 more mercenaries. Climb up to the right. Take a running jump from the ledge with the steam vent, across the lava pool, to grab the small platform on the other side. Pull up and shoot a bat. Then jump to grab the ladder on the right wall. Climb to the top, backflip to the next platform and shoot 2 more bats. There are steam vents on most of the platforms between here and the exit. Avoid them if you can.
Walk to the left side of the platform and climb onto the one above. Take a running jump to the next platform to the left. Safety drop off the left edge onto the platform below. Take a running jump to the left to land on top of the wall with the ladder. Take a standing jump from the left side of the wall to grab the next ladder to the left. Climb to the top. Again, jump from the left side of this wall to grab the next ladder. Climb to the top to finish the game.
Cut scene: Lara reaches an upper room and finds a hole leading outdoors. As she runs out, the pyramid explodes and lava flows out along the valley. She takes out the green crystal and admires it before walking off into the sunset.
