This boss fight has two main parts: giant armored-beetle Boaz, covered in the previous section, and flying humanoid Boaz. In addition to the Chirugai strategy described here, tips for defeating her with the Boran X are on a separate page.
Either before the mid-level cutscene starts or immediately afterward, open your inventory. Use an antidote and heal if necessary, then equip the Chirugai Blade.
Quickly activate the psychic shield. (With the Chirugai drawn, press Duck.) The glowing shield won't make Kurtis invulnerable, but it does help.
NOTE: The default keyboard shortcut for the Chirugai is 2. So you can press 2, then period (or whichever key you assigned to Duck), to quickly equip the blade and activate the shield.
Once Kurtis is shielded, start throwing the Chirugai at winged Boaz (2). Kurtis can't move or dodge very well while using the blade, but as long as you raise the shield, he won't need to.
At first, she'll hover and occasionally swoop in to claw at Kurtis. This can knock him down but will do less damage if the shield is up. When she moves in close, you can slash at her with the blade by pressing Jump.
When the psychic shield starts to fade...
...quickly press Duck to activate it again. Then continue throwing the blade. Do this each time the shield starts to wear off. As you fight, watch Boaz's eyes. When she backs away and the blue glow in her eyes intensifies...
...she's powering up a lightning bolt attack. The psychic shield drastically reduces the damage and knock-down effect.
So you can continue attacking.
Of course, you can pause to heal if necessary, but if you keep throwing the blade and powering up your shield, it won't take too long to bring Boaz down.
When her health bar reaches zero, she drops like a fly. It may take a moment for the next cutscene to begin, but you don't need to do anything else.
DARK MODE: I plan to add optional dark mode for these pages, but my current priority is updating the walkthroughs. Meanwhile, may I suggest a reputable dark mode browser extension, such as Dark Reader? (Download only from trusted sites, like darkreader.org or your browser's web store.)
